The Capital Grille . . . The Finest of Dining Experiences

Capital-grille-interiorTwo nights before Hurricane Irma of 2017 pounded ferocious winds and rain upon Palm Beach County, PB Girls Dine enjoyed a spectacular culinary experience at The Capital Grille in Legacy Place. It was a very special evening as we celebrated the 65th wedding anniversary of parents/grandparents.

Dining at The Capital Grille is a celebration in itself! This well-known restaurant boasts an excellent selection of award-winning wines. Specialty cocktails are very tempting, and we guarantee you’ll love the Classic Mojito.

To start, PB Girls Dine ordered New England Clam Chowder and the Wedge with Bleu Cheese and Smoked Bacon. Both proved to be excellent choices.

For the main event, we ordered 8 oz. Filet Mignons, cooked to absolute perfection, served with Sam’s Mashed Potatoes — a house specialty — and farm-fresh green beans.

At dessert time, we sampled the Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake with Cocoa Powder and Fresh Raspberries. In addition, we devoured The Capital Grille Cheesecake, prepared Brulée Style with Fresh Berries.

The Capital Grille staff will make any special event, birthday or anniversary truly delightful. Note the lovely heart anniversary confetti on our table. While we dined, a bride and groom arrived to meet their guests in The Capital Grille’s special event room. (And, oh! What stunning flowers and tablescape they created!)

From ambiance to stellar cuisine to impeccable service, The Capital Grille in Palm Beach Gardens is certainly a great choice for a most memorable dining experience.

The Waterway Café . . . Lobster Rolls Paired Perfectly with the Boat Parade

lobster-roll-1.jpgOur PB Girls Dine team had the pleasure of visiting a favorite Palm Beach Gardens waterfront hotspot for ta December Boat Parade followed by a most enjoyable dinner. The Waterway Café is well-known for excellent dining (especially seafood), Sunday Brunch, awesome tropical drinks and a great Happy Hour plus a fabulous setting right on the Intracoastal Waterway. And, did you know that The Waterway Café has a floating boat bar? It’s the only one in Florida, and we love spending a relaxing afternoon sipping Margaritas there with good friends as the boats – and time – pass us by!

Let’s first talk about the food. We are hooked on the Lobster Roll . . . it’s the best in town. Another PB Girls Dine favorite on the dinner menu is the Blackened Swordfish, perfectly prepared each and every visit with some great sides. We like to order the Shrimp and Chicken Salad Plate on the lunch menu. It arrives accompanied by fresh fruit, and a chocolate chip cookie!

The wine list is very good and we always tend toward the Copper Ridge Chardonnay and Canyon Road Pinot Grigio. Get a great view of the Intracoastal and enjoy The Waterway Café’s small plates with your fav beverage. Oh, and try the calamari, one of our favorites.

Be sure to join The Waterway Café’s Clipper Club for lunch-time dining. Enjoy five lunches and the fifth is free! The manager validates the card with each visit.

On to the Annual Palm Beach Boat Parade . . . PB Girls Dine was especially fortunate to have center-stage seating at The Waterway Café for the Boat Parade. Yes, the restaurant gets jam-packed so arrive super-duper early. (We parked across the bridge.) But, it is a spectacular location to enjoy the best in dining and views for this wonderful local celebration.

And last of all, be sure to save room for the dessert of the century: The Waterway Café’s tower, a true artistic celebration of ice cream, cookies and Snickers! We rate this the very best dessert ever, and one you and your guests will never forget!

If you’ve never been to Alaina’s Bake Shoppe and Café on Northlake Boulevard, you are in for one sweet surprise! PB Girls Dine stopped by for a light lunch late one afternoon . . .  and we are still singing their praises! The shoppe/café is nestled in the Northmill Plaza. Step inside and you’re greeted warmly by staff. The charming bake shoppe beckons you to plan your dessert first. However, we recommend you begin by reviewing the delightful menu with a cold iced tea or a Jack Nicholas.

Like surprises? We do, and were pleasantly surprised at the arrival of two absolutely delicious pumpkin muffins as we waited for lunch to arrive. (On another visit, heavenly chocolate chip muffins were the muffins-of-the-day!)

We ordered the three cheese and chives quiche which was beautifully prepared and so very good, and served with sliced tomatoes. We also sampled the chestnut soup that was Spectacular with a capital “S!” One sip of this flavorful soup with caramelized onions and you’ll think you are dining in a five-star, Zagat-rated restaurant! We do mean exceptional.

The paninis looked wonderful. They’re served with freshly baked potato chips, plus you can choose your bread (plain Ciabatta, multi-grain, focaccia or caramelized onion focaccia) and your pickles (spicy or dill). Alaina’s also features a very nice selection of salads.

Alaina’s Bake Shoppe and Café is owned by the very talented husband and wife team, Brent Witherell and Alaina Sabatello-Witherell.

Dining hours are:
Breakfast: Monday – Friday: 9am to 11am
Lunch: Monday – Friday: 11am to 4pm
Saturday Brunch: 9am – 11am
Saturday Lunch: 11am – 4pm
Sunday Brunch: 9am – 2pm

Plan to take home a few scones for tomorrow’s breakfast . . . we are especially fond of the lemon scones with sugar topping. And, take a sneak peak at the Bake Shoppe Goodies.

PB Girls Dine promises you will be thrilled with your visit to Alaina’s Bake Shoppe and Café!

So, where have we been lately? PB Girls Dine has been enjoying wonderful dining fare at Seasons 52 nestled on the waterfront in Palm Beach Gardens!

We frequent this most enjoyable and attractive restaurant. (Sure, we knew about the Seasons 52 in Tysons Galleria in McLean, Virginia . . . but the setting in the Virginia shopping mall couldn’t hold a candle to its sister restaurant in Palm Beach Gardens.)

Happy Hour is truly excellent at Seasons 52. Arrive early. (Is this our motto?) The service is superior and the menu is totally amazing. Known for their flatbreads, Seasons 52 had the best four-mushroom flatbread ever . . . until the lobster and fresh mozzarella flatbread arrived!

The wines on the Happy Hour menu were excellent. We also sampled the Kona-Crusted Lollipop Lamb Chops. At 130 calories, this gives new meaning to the word “lollipop!” We plan to try the Duck Lollipops on our next visit. View the Happy Hour Menu.

We’ve enjoyed cozy Happy Hours and big-girl dinners at this Seasons 52. (Note: The fresh fish specials are exquisite.)

Red alert! Save room for dessert. The dessert shooters are delectable . . . especially the cannoli and key lime pie.

Seasons 52 gets a big “Gold Star” from PB Girls Dine. See ya soon, ’52.

PB Girls Dine
Loves (with a capital L) Spoto’s Oyster Bar. The cuisine is simply spectacular, and the staff and management are the best!

Spoto’s has had a 2018-19 major decor renovation, and it is truly one of the most stunning restaurants in Palm Beach County. (Joanna Gaines of “Fixer Upper” fame would drool!) We just stopped in for dinner and saw this amazing re-do. PB Girls Dine will be writing a new post on this, so please stay tuned!

To start, you’ve got to try Spoto’s for Happy Hour in the gorgeous new bar or the new outdoor bar. There’s also an early bird menu Sunday – Thursday, before 6pm.

On a recent evening, we ordered the Cotuit oysters that we devoured in milliseconds. The oysters were so delicious and beautifully presented, chilled on a bed of ice. We love the steamers at Spoto’s, too. This is reminiscent of our Cape Cod days!

The shrimp and grits were perfectly prepared and the best we’ve ever had. The trout was delightful — simply and delicious prepared, just as ordered.

PB Girls Dine has enjoyed many, many dinners at Spoto’s, and we rate Spoto’s tops in Palm Beach County.

Check out the events on Spoto’s website. They also have a rewards program, too.

Enjoy indoor or outdoor dining at one of our very favorite restaurants, and tell them PB Girls Dine sent you!
